When you are pulling a trailer, or even just on the road at all, safety is crucial. Brakes are some of the most important safety features in your car, and a brake malfunction is one of the most common causes of fatal car accidents. In the case of hauling a trailer, you can use a trailer brake controller solution, or adjusted manually. Keeping your truck and trailer brakes calibrated is a constant task, but will pay off in protection for your own vehicles and those around you.

In this video, we are taught how to manually adjust your trailer brake to align perfectly with your truck.

To begin, you need to calibrate the trailer brake sensor. In order to do this, you need to park your truck with the trailer in tow on a very level road. Having a complete sensor circuit between your truck and your trailer will result in the sensor shining a green LED light. The LED light will turn red when you apply the manual breaks and turn the power control knob. Once it is at maximum, slowly dial it back until the light shines orange. This is the ideal setting for transport.
